Pervis grew up in Lubbock, TX and moved to Midland in 2003. He joined Educate Midland, as its Executive Director, in September of 2016. For nearly 20 years, Pervis has served in various leadership, advocacy, and reform roles in K-12 education, higher education, non-profit and state agency. He earned Bachelor of General Studies and Master of Science degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas Tech University. He also earned a Master of Education degree in Counseling from Sul Ross State University.
In addition to a career in education and social services, Pervis is a songwriter, a recording artist, and co-owner of a small publishing company. He enjoys travel adventures, the arts, and spending quality time with his wife, Michelle, and their children, Jaden and McKinley.
Mike grew up as an “Air Force brat” living in several countries in Europe and various parts of the United States. He moved to Midland in 1991 from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. He joined the Educate Midland team, as its Program Director, in October of 2017. Mike has served in various forms of church ministry throughout his adult life, he owned and operated a small family business in Midland for 21 years, he has served on various boards and committees related to education in Midland. For the past six years, Mike started and directed a male mentoring program at Midland High School and Lee High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pastoral Theology at Hyles-Anderson College in Crown Point, Indiana and is an ordained minister.
Mike enjoys the outdoors, loves to cycle, hike, and travel. He enjoys sharing the beauty of life with his wife of 31 years, Teresa, and their children Denny, David and Elizabeth.
Becca is West Texas proud, having grown up in Sweetwater, TX. She attended and graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX and moved to Odessa in 2012 to pursue a Master’s degree in Applied Research Psychology at The University of Texas of the Permian Basin. She began her professional career working at one end of the educational spectrum, advising and supporting students enrolling into graduate school at UT Permian Basin. From there she transitioned into the role of Research Coordinator for The Center for Early Childhood Development, which highlighted for her the importance of early learning and development as a marker of one’s educational journey. Becca officially joined the team of Educate Midland and its partners in March 2018, thrilled to be involved in a true collective impact movement for Midland County’s pathway to student success.
Becca has developed a passion for helping her community and is involved in numerous volunteer opportunities. She has an interest in overall physical wellness and anything that incorporates outdoor activities. Experiencing the cultures of others through travel is something she endlessly pursues.
Mrs. Presley has nineteen years of administrative and management experience in education, nonprofit, and business sectors. She earned an Associate of Arts degree and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Technology degree in Business Management from Midland College.
In addition, Mrs. Presley served in the U.S. Army. She is a Notary Public and frequently volunteers in the community. She enjoys reading books, riding horses and spending quality time with her husband, Chris, their 6 children, and two granddaughters, Sebrina and Avery.
